NanoGram Develops High Transparency High Refractive Index Polymer Nanocomposites

NanoGram Corporation, a leading developer and licensor of core process technology enabling the manufacture of unique nanostructured materials for optical, electronic and energy applications, announced today that it has developed high transparency, high refractive index polymer nanocomposites.

NanoGram's Nano Particle Manufacturing (NPM) process is a unique, scalable nanoparticle production platform that simultaneously controls particle size, size distribution, phase, shape, elemental composition and morphology.

The nanocomposites utilize sub-10nm particles produced by the NPM process and NanoGram's proprietary surface modification and dispersion technologies to achieve a 0.3 refractive index increase (e.g. increase polymer of 1.5 to composite of 1.8) and greater than 90 percent transmission in the visible spectrum with a variety of polymers, including acrylates, epoxies and silicones.

"We are collaborating with several partners with leading market positions to commercialize customized applications of these nanocomposites in the fields of opto-electronics packaging and optical films," said Dr. Nobi Kambe, NanoGram CTO. "We are also expanding applications to lenses, optical devices and coatings."

"A major advantage to our technology is its versatility and ability to expand the limits of product functionalities for diverse applications beyond optical nanocomposites," added Kambe.

NanoGram provides customized nanotechnology solutions that enable partners to realize substantial product performance advantages. NanoGram's complete licensing package includes a proven materials production process and process transfer expertise.

Since its founding, NanoGram has collaborated with companies around the world to develop leading edge products and has built an intellectual property portfolio of almost 100 internally developed patents.
