API Nanotronics Corp., a leading supplier of electronic components and nanotechnology research and development to the defense and communications sectors, announced today that its NanoOpto division delivered its first nanotechnology order, consisting of specialized optical filters, to a leading global digital imaging component manufacturer.
These highly specialized infrared-cut filters have precise properties eliminating infrared while passing through the full spectrum of colors needed for a crisp image. Unique to API, these filters are manufactured using a nanofabrication technology called "atomic layer deposition," or ALD, rarely used in the optical industry. Given its vast instrumental and technical capability in this area, API is uniquely positioned to provide infrared-cut filters and other display, projection and imaging components, such as specialty-coated lenses, with unprecedented precise spectral properties.
"We are thrilled to deliver our first nanotechnology order," stated Phillip DeZwirek, Chairman and CEO of API. "This is a milestone for our Company both in terms of product innovation and meeting the needs of our global customer base. There is a great deal of interest in API's unique capabilities and we expect to capitalize on that interest to secure new business and new customers going forward."
