New Nano-technology products for the holiday season

Greenyarn, a Boston nanotech startup developing advanced, eco-friendly fabrics and apparel for consumers, is now launching new 2009 products.

The company that started manufacturing 200 needle count Eco-Fabric since 2004 is launching new 2009 socks. Greenyarn's performance socks have sold well with popular trends in sustainability and Nanotechnology, and the company is ready to release new lines of improved garments.

The Eco-Fabric 200-needle socks contain Nano-particles of Bamboo charcoal, which are embedded within the fibers and do not wash out unlike lower quality performance wear that lose their effects over time. The particles are anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, aid blood circulation and metabolism, and prevent static build up. With 200-needle count and 3-D knitted cushioned soles, the socks give full cushioning all day and prevent “tired feet” for those standing and walking a lot at their jobs.

Using feedback from customers and athlete focus groups, the new socks fit better through have flatter seams and carefully placed elastic points. Using DuPont CoolMax fibers, these socks can wick more moisture and dry faster than their older versions. Coolmax work together with Eco-fabric to regulate temperature, yet the socks are easy to care for, machine washable, and quick drying.

Greenyarn also launched Eco-fabric Polo shirts which uses Nike’s Dryfit and Eco-fabric, woven together to form an ultra comfortable, soft and wicking shirt that wicks moisture and controls odor, perfect for a golf game.

Nanotechnology clothing is an emerging trend that uses the science of ultra-small machines and materials to add exciting new characteristics to products that were previously not possible. Greenyarn applies it's patented nanoparticle technology to creating fabrics and apparel with novel qualities such as enhanced absorption of odors and anti-bacterial characteristics.

Greenyarn's initial product line revolves around Eco-Fabric. Greenyarn added nanoparticles of bamboo charcoal to a rayon resin which it uses to create fabric and apparel. Eco-Fabric is deodorizing, antibacterial, antifungal, thermally regulating, and static free. These benefits are derived naturally from the nanoparticles of bamboo charcoal, and not from chemicals, so Eco-Fabric is also environmentally friendly. Other products that Greenyarn has created with Eco-Fabric include dress and sport socks, shoe insoles, undergarments and shoes.

“We must thank our loyal customers and athletes who participated in the research and design of these improved socks.” said Robin Low, CEO of Greenyarn. “We strive to deliver relevant products which differentiate ourselves from our competitors.”

The new socks can be found in Malaysia (CEOBodycare), in Singapore(Sunnychoice), and in the USA at
