Pioneer Surgical Technology, Inc. Receives Prestigious Spine Technology Awards

Pioneer Surgical Technology, Inc., a surgeon-driven leader in innovative medical devices, received 2 awards in the Cervical Spine Care category at the 2009 Spine Technology Awards gala held recently in San Francisco, California in conjunction with the North American Spine Society annual meeting.

Pioneer Surgical's next generation technologies receiving awards were the NuNec Cervical Total Disc replacement (CTDR) device and nanOss Cervical, a machined hydroxyapatite (HA) interbody spacer. These products were among 26 new and emerging technologies honored for their likelihood to advance cost-effective care of patients with spine problems.

According to Pioneer's Chief Marketing Officer, Tom McLeer, "We are delighted over the positive recognition these advanced technologies are receiving from leading industry analysts, even though these products may be several years away from commercial availability in the United States."

The awards are presented annually by Orthopedics This Week, the most widely read publication in the Orthopaedic industry. According to OTW Publisher, Robin Young, the Spine Technology Awards bring increased recognition to innovative spine surgery products and their inventors. Pioneer's signature articulating P3 Technology-Pioneer PEEK-on-PEEK - is the heart of the NuNec design. The nanOss Cervical cage, using nanotechnology, is intended to provide structural stability while fusion occurs.

Pioneer Surgical Technology, Inc. is a dynamic medical device firm founded in 1992. Thoughtful innovation has rewarded the company with over 120 U.S. and Foreign patents with numerous patents pending. Pioneer is dedicated to developing products that are easier and faster for surgeons and are cost effective for the healthcare system.
